Summery Thank You

Hello, hello!

Erica back on the blog today with a bright, cheery and summery Thank You card. Yep, I'm continuing my thank you card collection.

Now, what says summer better than sunflowers? I can't think of many things that score a higher summer score than the lovely sunflower myself so I decided to stamp and mask a few on today's card. I had already decided to use my Zig markers for this card so I used MFT hybrid ink on water colour card stock, I have not had any problems with this ink running or smudging while using my Zig markers on it.

The first sunflower I stamped just off the panel and then I did the same thing on the other side of the panel. Getting my masks out, I covered up the bits I didn't want to overlap and stamped the third one in the middle, slightly lower than the others.

Once it was all stamped and ready, it was time to colour! I love this part! It's so much fin to see how it  all starts to come to life and become a small piece of art.... ish...

When I had finished colouring the flowers I looked at the panel and thought 'it needs more green and some blue for a sky' so I got my distress inks out and blended some light green at the bottom on the panel and some light blue around the top bit. As I didn't have much ink on the sponge it was easy enough to drag the blue down close to the flower petals without mudding up the colours.

Sentiment wise I got a die cut that says 'Thank you' from Studio Katia (you can find that in a stamp and die cut bundle here) and I cut one out in black card stock and one in gold glitter card stock. I layered these on top of each other to create a small shadow behind the glittery gold card stock to make it pop a little bit and adhered to the card using glossy accents.

Apart from the blending needed on the petals, this is a quick and simple card. You can easily make a few in an evening or simplfy the design with another flower that doesn't require such fussy-colouring.

That's it from me for today!

Happy crafting from Erica

I have had my Faber-Castell Polochromos pencils for quite a while now, I do believe they were part of my wedding anniversary present last year.. in July... so yeah, they have been around for a while but I've felt too intimidated to try them out. Nuts or what?? Well, for today's card I decided to be brave and just get on with it. And wow. Now I can't believe I waited to long to try them! I decided to use black card stock and gold glitter heat embossing for my card and the colours practically glow!! It's so cool!
Right, I'm skipping ahead a little bit here, let's go back to the beginning. I have used the Kindness Medley stamp set which I stamped with VersaMark on smooth black ca…
